Donaleen Saul began her professional life as a Junior High Social Studies and Language Arts teacher. She then turned her love for learning into a writing career, penning award winning, internationally distributed children’s educational TV programs at Access Network in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

In the 25 years that she has worked as a freelance writer, Donaleen has written documentaries, dramas, animation scripts, reports, studies, and print collateral for a variety of government, corporate, and educational clients. She has written several publications in the social services and human development fields and is the author of the recently released Did You Know I Would Miss You? – A Healing Journey, about healing loss by suicide.

A Gemini-nominated screenwriter, Donaleen has been a mentor for BC Film’s Professional Internship Program and for Women in Film and Video, and is a script analyst for Telefilm Canada, BC Film, and the Shaw Rocket Fund. Having reviewed thousands of screenplays in every genre, her script coverage and story editing services are sought after by independent producers throughout Canada and the U.S. She was Story Editor for the fifth season of the CBC/Disney co-production, Danger Bay.

Donaleen has been a writing instructor at the Vancouver Film School and Langara College Continuing Studies Department, and has developed a number of different creative writing and journal-writing classes aimed at a range of audiences. Donaleen is currently developing Sharing Your Wisdom – Developing Your Nonfiction Book, a series of workshops for teachers, coaches, therapists, thought leaders, and others with a message of hope and healing. As a writing coach, Donaleen enjoys working one-on-one with writers who want to express themselves authentically and who want to get the darn thing written – now!
